Professorship in “Resource Efficiency in Building Preservation and Demolition” at Department of Civil Engineering You will teach the basics and advanced application of building preservation and demolition under the premise of resource efficiency on the department-s Bachelor-s and Master-s programmes. This will include, among other things, the evaluation of structures/components in structural and civil engineering, the decision-making process on the further use of these objects, and the planning and implementation of selective demolition (including relevant digital methods such as modelling and BIM). The objective in this context is the efficient use of resources from the anthropogenic stockpile. In addition to your commitment to the development and advancement of teaching and research in this field, you will also be willing to take on basic subjects (e. g. construction chemistry or engineering mathematics) and to contribute to the degree programme in “Construction in Existing Contexts-. Your input is required in application-oriented research, e. g. at the Institute for Infrastructure · Water · Resources · Environment (IWARU). Last but not least, you will take on responsibilities in the self-government of the department and the university, and make a constructive contribution to cooperative interaction at the department. Your expertise is based on a degree in civil engineering or a comparable degree with a deep understanding of construction designs and resource management. You have also completed a recognised doctorate. Several years of professional experience in the planning and implementation of demolition measures, building and component evaluation, and the evaluation of secondary raw materials complement your career. It would also be desirable for you to have scientific knowledge and practical experience in the areas of pollutant assessment, component testing, reuse of components, as well as environmental and economic assessment. Ideally, you have experience teaching in higher education, and are keen to support the university-s internationalisation process by delivering courses in English. Experience in applying for research projects and an extensive network of practice partners round off your profile. Advanced knowledge of German is essential for this position.
